The Mountain Cats held Indiana (PA) University scoreless in the first half, but three second-half goals by the Crimson Hawks handed Pitt-Johnstown a 3-0 PSAC Western Division loss on Wednesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Mountain Cats to 4-9-4 overall and 4-8-3 in PSAC West play.
After neither team managed to score in the first half, Indiana (PA) opened the second half by striking twice early: once off a goal by Aislinn Meaney in the 53rd minute, then Hannah Scardina followed that up with a goal of her own in the 56th minute. The Crimson Hawks sealed the victory with a Kristen Finnerty goal in the 70th minute to set the final score at 3-0.
Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Sachi Negri faced 13 shots on the day, making three saves. Vanessa Berlin also made a trio of saves for the Crimson Hawks, while Samantha Gildner closed out the game and made a save as well.
With the win, Indiana (PA) improved to 5-4-7 overall and 4-4-7 in PSAC West play this season.
The Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team will travel to Erie to take on Gannon University on Saturday, October 29th at 5:00 p.m. for their regular season finale.
