The 2022 Susquehanna University Early Season Invite and Multi was host to another impressive outing for the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown Mountain Cats.
On the Women's side,
Mayah Charity took home a 2
nd place finish in the 60-meter dash (7.99A seconds). While
Abbey-Gale Brooks and
Kara McKenzie both finished in the top ten in the event. Brooks ran a time of 8.11 seconds to finish 5
th and McKenzie finished in 8.32 seconds to earn 9
th. Charity also finished 2
nd in the 200-meter dash (26.73 seconds). Brooks was edged out by Alexandra Walton in the 400-meter dash where Walton earned a sixth-place finish with her time of 1:03.98 seconds. Brooks was timed at 1:05.69 in that event. Ava Barker finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.50. She was joined in the top three finishers by
Lacey Greathouse who ran a time of 2:36.83.
Jenna Smith finished second in the one mile run with a time of 5:42.34. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Kara McKenzie continued her impressive meet with a third-place finish. Her time was 10.32 seconds. Off the track, Natalie Lippincott finished fourth in the high jump with a top mark of 1.47 meters.
Brooke Leithner jumped 5.13 meters in the long jump to earn a second-place finish.
Janiah Tutt finished seventh in this event with a top mark of 4.62 meters. Leithner finished fifth in the pentathlon with a total of 2257 points.
On the Men's side, three Mountain Cats finished in the top ten of the 60-meter dash. Andrew Jeffrey finished third (7.15A seconds),
Michael Ifidon (7.16 seconds), and
Cristian Thornton (7.36 seconds) earned 3
rd, 4
th, and 10
th place respectively. These three were joined in the top ten of the 200-meter dash by
Blake Lauper. Jeffery finished 3
rd (23.35 seconds), Thornton finished 4
th (23.39 seconds), Ifidon finished 6
th (23.58 seconds), and Lauper finished 9
th (23.95 seconds). Thornton finished first in the 400-meter dash (53.16 seconds). He was trailed by Lauper (2
nd place; 53.18 seconds), Williams (3
rd place; 53.42 seconds), and
Kenneth Robinson (4
th place; 54.21 seconds).
Noah Lee placed 2
nd in the 800-meter run (2:01.11). Fellow Mountain Cats
Helaman Forsyth (2:06.72),
Luke Cimakasky (2:08.77), and Ben Brassart (2:08.80) finished 3
rd, 4
th, and 5
threspectively. Cimakasky finished on top in the one-mile run (4:33.19). Forsyth (4:47.70),
Michael Hanik (4:51.38), and Joel Weber (5:12.27) all finished in the top-ten of this event.
Tyler Spaid ran a time of 9.21 seconds to earn a 5
th place finish.
Chris Colligan finished 1
st in the high jump with a top mark of 1.91mA. Colligan finished 10
th in the long jump (5.60m), an event that saw Pitt-Johnstown's Clayton Engle place 4
thwith a top mark of 6.27 meters. Finnian Sieg placed 3
rd in the pole vault with a top mark of 3.20m. Engle earned the top spot in the triple jump at 13.91mA. In the throws, Pitt-Johnstown had Nicholas Dematteis and
Jaylen Cooper finished in the top-five in shot put. Dematteis placed 3
rd (12.79m) and Cooper placed 5
th(12.22m).
The Mountain Cats travel to Youngstown Ohio on January 20th and 27th for the Youngstown State University Invitational and the Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational.
