
Pitt-Johnstown used 60% shooting for the game and
John Paul Kromka's game-high 24 points and six rebounds, to pick up a convincing, 79-62, PSAC Crossover victory at Shepherd (WV), Friday night in Shepherdstown, W.Va. The Mountain Cats improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC Western Division.
Kromka shot 12-15 from the floor for his 24 points, while
Jared Jakubick had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead a balanced Mountain Cat scoring attack that saw eight players score six or more points.
Drew Magestro made three 3-points and finished with nine points and
Andrew Shull had eight points. Pitt-Johnstown also got six points and seven rebounds from
Ryan Smith and six points each from
Will Kromka,
Caiden Landis, and
Andy Zuchelli.
Joe Batt dished out a game-high eight assists for the Mountain Cats.

The Mountain Cats, who shot 62% and held Shepherd to just 21% shooting in the first half, stayed hot and used 3-pointers from Magestro and Zuchelli and a bucket from Landis in a 12-1 run over the next five minutes to extend it to 29-13.
Will Kromka came off the bench and nailed two of Pitt-Johnstown's six 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes to get the lead out to 19 and the Mountain Cats took a 43-24 advantage into the break.
Back-to-back buckets from
John Paul Kromka to start the second half made it a 23-point lead, before a 12-2 spurt from the Rams, capped by Jon Preston's 3-pointer, cut it to 55-42 with 10:42 to play.
That's as close as the Mountain Cats would let it get. Landis' basket at 4:42 pushed it back out to 21 and Pitt-Johnstown cruised to its third consecutive victory.
Pitt-Johnstown wrapped-up the night shooting 60.4% (32-53) from the field and 9-16 from behind the arc, while limiting the Rams to just 32.7% (18-55) shooting, including 11-34 from 3-point range. Shepherd also shot 15-20 from the. Pitt-Johnstown made six of its eight attempts.
Dan McClain-Corley's 19 points and Preston's 13 points and six boards paced Shepherd, now 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC East.
Pitt-Johnstown returns to the Sports Center to host a PSAC Crossover doubleheader with the women's team against Kutztown on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m., before opening PSAC West-play with a home doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 7 beginning at 1 p.m.
