

Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 3-0 second inning lead and went on to its third consecutive win to open The Spring Games by downing Chestnut Hill College, 5-2, Monday afternoon in Jan Phyl Village, Fla.
Julia Mooney had two hits and drove in two, and
Kayla Miehl belted a solo home run for the Mountain Cats.
Mooney's first inning RBI gave Pitt-Johnstown the early lead, before an
Olivia Porter RBI triple and
Taylor Mendicino's run-producing hit made it 3-0 in the second.
Chestnut Hill cut it to 3-1 with a run in its half of the second, but Miehl connected for a solo homer in the Mountain Cat third, and Mooney drove in her second run of the game in the fourth to increase it to 5-1, and Pitt-Johnstown went on to the 5-2 victory,
Mooney went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Miehl added the solo homer to lead the Mountain Cats. Porter tripled and drove in one, while Mendicino had an RBI, and
Cassidy Kern doubled for Pitt-Johnstown.
Julie Shinavski earned the win and is now 1-0 on the year after limiting the Griffins to just a pair of runs on eight hits in a complete-game effort. Shinavski also struck out two and walked two.
The Mountain Cats will take Tuesday and Wednesday off, before continuing their Spring Trip in Florida with games against University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Thursday at 10 a.m. and Laker Erie (OH) College on Thursday at 12:15 p.m.
