
Second-year Head Coach
Morgan Mammosser and the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team was picked to finish fifth in the PSAC Western Division when the conference released this year's preseason poll as voted on by the league's coaches on Thursday.
Clarion received five first-place votes and Gannon earned three first-place votes to sit atop of the PSAC Western Division Poll, while East Stroudsburg holds the top-spot in the Eastern Division with four first-place votes. Shepherd (WV) is second the PSAC East with three first-place votes.
Pitt-Johnstown, which narrowly missed a spot in the post-season conference tournament a year ago, returns three starters in senior middle hitter
Katelyn Courtney (1.44 kills/set, 12 solo blocks, 48 block assists, 60 blocks), sophomore outside hitter
Lualis Alvarado (255 kills, 3.07 kills/set, 19 aces, 2.93 digs/set, 23 blocks) and sophomore setter
Adiamar Beaz (919 assists, 9.99 assists/set, 45 aces, 308 digs, 3.35 digs/set).
The top four teams in each division will qualify for the 2022 PSAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament from November 9-13.
The Mountain Cats tip-off the 2022 season at the Fairmont State (WV) Tournament on August 26-27. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2022 home debut with a non-conference match against Salem (WV) on September 13 at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center.
