Neidig, Esser Score First Half Goals to Lead Mountain Cats Past Cal U

Neidig_Haley.jpgHaley Neidig and Emily Esser both scored first-half goals to help the Mountain Cats build a 2-0 lead on their way to a 2-0 victory over California (PA) University.

Neidig opened up the game's scoring in the 14th minute of play off a pass from Morgan Kost, which beat Vulcans goalkeeper Emily Ouimet in the low left corner for the score.

Esser would add another goal in the 27th minute, striking in the low center of the net to give the Mountain Cats a 2-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second half, which led to Pitt-Johnstown holding their lead the rest of the way for the 2-0 victory.

Esser_Emily.jpgPitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Sachi Negri faced 17 shots, made 10 saves and didn't allow a single goal, while Ouimet allowed two goals and made seven saves on 12 shots.

The Mountain Cats will travel to Clarion on Wednesday to face Clarion University at 6:00 p.m.
