Women’s Soccer Makes It Three Straight Wins With 2-1 PSAC Victory at Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, PA

Kost_Morgan.jpgNeidig_Haley.jpgMorgan Kost and Haley Neidig each scored goals, and Sachi Negri made 10 saves to lift the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team to a 2-1 PSAC Western Division victory at Slippery Rock on Saturday.  The Mountain Cats are now 3-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference-play.

Kost beat Slippery Rock goalkeeper Emma Yoder off of an assist from Emily Esser 28 minutes into the match to give the Mountain Cats the lead.

Slippery Rock quickly answered three minutes later to tie it on an unassisted goal from Morgan Sarver, but Pitt-Johnstown was able to regain the lead, 2-1, when Neidig finished Emma Bennethum's assist with five minutes remaining in the opening half.

Negri_Sachi.jpgNegri did the rest in net for Pitt-Johnstown and held the Rock scoreless in the second half to preserve the one goal victory.  Negri faced 23 shots, made 10 saves, and allowed just one goal, while Yoder suffered the loss for Slippery Rock after allowing both goals.  Yoder saw nine Mountain Cat shots and made four saves.

The Rock slipped to 1-2-5 overall and 0-2-4 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC West match against Indiana (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before visiting Seton Hill for a conference match on Saturday.
