Quincy tops Mountain Cat volleyball to open Warrior Invitational

Alvarado_Lualis.jpgLualis Alvarado racked up a team-high 11 kills to pair with six digs, but the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team suffered losses in straight sets to Quincy (IL) on Friday afternoon to open the Wayne State (MI) University Warrior Invitational in Detroit. With the loss, the Mountain Cats slipped to 1-3 on the year.

Quincy began the day with 25-11 and 25-16 wins over the Mountain Cats, before closing it out with a narrow back-and-forth 25-21 victory.

Pitt-Johnstown was aided in part by efforts from Katelyn Courtney, who ended the day with seven kills, and Adiamar Beaz, who finished the day with a team-high 18 assists and 11 digs.

The Mountain Cats also got six kills and six digs from Natalie Lippincott, and 10 assists from Isabella Gomez, while Gabi DeRenzo finished the match with six digs.

Quincy, who stayed undefeated on the year and improved to 5-0, was led by Mattison Norris' match-high 18 kills and seven digs. The Hawks also got a match-high 33 assists from Makayla Knoblauch, and seven kills each from Emily Rehagen and Alice Pavan in the three-set victory.
