Volleyball to Host PSAC Matches Against Seton Hill on Friday and Slippery Rock on Saturday

The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team will host a pair of PSAC  Western Division matches this weekend in the Sports Center.  On Friday, the Mountain Cats will take on Seton Hill at 7 p.m., before welcoming Slippery Rock on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, under second-year Head Coach Morgan Mammosser is 6-8 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West.  After winning four straight matches, the Mountain Cats opened PSAC West-play with a three-set loss to California (PA) last Friday and a straight sets setback at Gannon on Saturday.
 
Head Coach Rick Hall and the Seton Hill Griffins have won five of their last six matches and enter Friday's match at 10-3 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC West.  Seton Hill suffered a 3-0 home loss to Clarion in last Friday's conference-opener, before sweeping Mercyhurst, 3-0, on Saturday.
 
Since 2007, Pitt-Johnstown holds a slim, 10-9 advantage in the series.  In 2021, the teams split a pair of matches., On Oct. 9, Cassie Pascarella had 13 kills and Grace Miller added 11 kills in a 3-0 Mountain Cats sweep in the Sports Center.  The Griffins answered with a five-set win in Greensburg on Nov. 5.
 
Slippery Rock, under 39th-year Head Coach Laurie Lokash, was 4-9 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC West prior to Friday's match at Clarion.  The Rock began PSAC West-play with a five-set victory over IUP on Sept. 13, before suffering a 3-2 loss at Edinboro last Friday.
 
The Mountain Cats have won nine straight matches and hold a 9-2 advantage in the series.  Last year, Pitt-Johnstown won in five sets at Slippery Rock on Sept. 21 behind the efforts of Grace Miller (17 kills), Lualis Alvarado (16 kills), and Cassie Pascarella (14 kills).  The Mountain Cats then swept the Rock in the Sports Center on Oct. 22.
 
Following this weekend's matches, Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC West match against Indiana (PA) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before visiting Clarion for a conference match on Friday.
