
Pitt-Johnstown got 11 kills and 17 digs from 
Lualis Alvarado and outscored Seton Hill 15-2 in the fifth set to secure a five-set victory over the Griffins to earn its first PSAC West win, Friday night in the Sports Center.  The Mountain Cats are now 7-8 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC West.
 
Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown split the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23.  After the Griffins won the third set, 25-21, the Mountain Cats responded with 25-20 and 15-2 wins to close out the match.
 
In the opening set, Pitt-Johnstown used a pair of 
Lexi Pendergraft services to go on top, 5-3, but Seton Hill broke a nine-all tie with an 8-1 run to build a 17-10 lead.  Pitt-Johnstown was able to battle back to narrow it to two on two occasions, with the last on coming on 
Isabella Gomez's kill.  However, the Griffins never gave up the lead and got a kill from Paige Cole to take the set, 25-21.
 
Pitt-Johnstown stormed back from a six-point deficit to begin the second set with a 14-7 run, capped by a Seton Hill error and 
Adiamar Beaz's ace, to take its first lead of the match at 15-14.  It remained close the rest of the way until the Mountain Cats got two late kills from 
Christen Maloney to outscore the Griffins, 3-1, down the stretch and even the match with the 25-23 victory.
 

Pitt-Johnstown started fast in the third set and climbed out to a 10-5 advantage on a 
Natalie Lippincott block.  Seton Hill countered with an 15-2 run of its own to take a 20-12 lead.  The Mountain Cats clawed back to make it 22-20, but the Griffins scored the final three points to take the set, 25-21.
 
In fourth set, two Alvarado kills and a Beaz ace helped Pitt-Johnstown race out to an 8-0 lead.  Seton Hill followed with six unanswered points to make it 8-6, but the Mountain Cats quickly regained the momentum and pushed the lead out to 17-8 on a 
Mallory Pinske kills and 
Liredys Casiano's ace.  The Griffins were able to get as close as three, but Pitt-Johnstown finished strong with a combined block from Lippincott and Pinske, and Lippincott's kill to force a fifth set with a 25-20 win.
 
In the race to 15, Pitt-Johnstown took control early and built a 6-0 lead on Alvarado's kill and never looked back.  The Mountain Cats held the Griffins to just two points in the set on closed out the 15-2 victory on Maloney's kill.
 
Along with Alvarado, Pinske had eight kills and two blocks, Maloney had eight kills, and 
Abi Leitner had seven kills and two Blocks.  The Mountain Cats also got two blocks and five digs from Lippincott.
 

Beaz finished with a match-high 26 set assists, 11 digs and two aces, while 
Gabi DeRenzo tallied a match-high 20 digs for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Seton Hill, which dropped to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC West, was led by Cole's match-high 14 kills and 13 digs, and Payton Rodberg's eight kills.
 
Pitt-Johnstown hosts PSAC West matches in the Sports Center against Slippery Rock on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Indiana (PA) on Tuesday at 7 p.m., before traveling to a conference match at Clarion on Sept. 30.
