Emily Esser got Pitt-Johnstown on the board early into the first half, and MacKenzie Stephens scored with five minutes left to play to tie it at two, as the Mountain Cats and Edinboro battled to a 2-2 PSAC West-opening draw in Edinboro, PA.
The Mountain Cats opened up the scoring quickly, earning the lead in the ninth minute when Esser beat Edinboro goalie Kaylee Lauriel in the low right corner of the net for the score.
Pitt-Johnstown held that lead all the way until the 52nd minute when Edinboro tied the game thanks to a low center goal from Reece Enochs. The Fighting Scots then took a 2-1 lead in the 68th minute off of a Megan Malits score.
In the 84th minute, as time in the second half began to wind down, the Mountain Cats managed to tie the game at two apiece thanks to a well-placed low left goal by Stephens.
Neither team was able to score in the few remaining minutes of the match, leading to a 2-2 draw as the final result.
Pitt Johnstown goalkeeper Sachi Negri faced 11 shots, making three saves and allowing two goals, while Edinboro's Lauriel also faced 11 shots, also allowing two goals and making one save.
The Mountain Cats will return home on Wednesday for a conference matchup against Mercyhurst at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
