Pitt-Johnstown ran into another stout PSAC West opponent and suffered a 4-1 setback to visiting Slippery Rock on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mountain Cats dropped to 1-8-3 overall (1-7-2 PSAC). The Rock, which has lost only one game since Sept. 13, improved to 7-3-2 (6-2-2 PSAC).
Slippery Rock jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of goals in the opening 20 minutes. Sydney Patrick led off with a tally in the 14th minute thanks to assists by Skylar Munnikhuysen and Morgan Sarver. Patrick then assisted Maddie DeLucio's goal in the 20th minute.
The Rock took that lead into halftime, and Sarver added to it 56 minutes into the game when she scored off an assist from Bailey McGee. Sarver notched her second assist on Jaime Dermotta's shot that found the back of the net in the 79th minute.
Lydia Roman broke up the shutout for the Mountain Cats after taking a pass from Jessica Susz and scoring her third goal of the year in the 82nd minute.
Megan Giesey logged 63 minutes in goal and made eight saves for Pitt-Johnstown. Haley Neidig recorded two shots on goal.
The Mountain Cats will visit Edinboro on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
