Neidig, Mountain Cats settle for second draw with Edinboro

Edinboro, PA

Pitt-Johnstown scratched out a second half goal to even the match, but it would be all the offense either side could produce from that point in what ended up being a 1-1 draw with Edinboro on Saturday afternoon.

It was the Mountain Cats' fourth tie of the season and the second time they tied the Fighting Scots as the two squads also tied 1-all back on Sept. 23.

But unlike that game, Pitt-Johnstown was forced to play from behind for more than 30 minutes before Haley Neidig received a feed from Jessica Susz and headed in her sixth goal of the year to knot the match up in the 54th minute.

Megan Giesey was superb in the net, registering 10 saves in all 90 minutes of action.

Neidig finished with three shots and had the other shot on goal for the Mountain Cats, who sit at 1-8-4 (1-7-3 PSAC).

Jillian Ball scored unassisted roughly 19 minutes in to provide the Fighting Scots with an early lead. But from there on out, Pitt-Johnstown was solid defensively despite being outshot 12-3 in the second half.

The Mountain Cats will host Indiana (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. They narrowly fell to the Crimson Hawks, 3-2, back on Sept. 13.
