Pitt-Johnstown battled the No. 10 ranked team in the country to a scoreless tie at the break, but ultimately, Gannon gained some traction with four second half goals to sink the Mountain Cats 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Mountain Cats dropped to 3-5 overall (1-4 PSAC). Gannon improved to a league-best 12-0-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 inside the conference.
All of the Golden Knights' tallies came within a 12-minute span in the latter stages of the second half after the game was even through the first 59 minutes. But in the 60th minute, James Pool notched his eighth goal of the season to make it 1-0.
Tinashe Katsande tallied a goal roughly five minutes later with the help of an assist by Sverre Orten. The same combination teamed up again in the 71st minute to cap the scoring.
Orten also secured an assist on Benjamin Querling's tally in the 69th minute.
Holger Lozano recorded the lone shot on goal for the Mountain Cats. Jacob Tichnell totaled six saves in a little more than 76 minutes in goal before giving way to backup PJ Derksen.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Seton Hill for a Wednesday matinee beginning at 12 p.m.
