Mountain Cats settle for draw at Seton Hill

Greensburg, PA

Pitt-Johnstown led for the better part of 78 minutes, but a late goal by Seton Hill tied the match and forced a 1-1 draw between the two PSAC West foes on Wednesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.

The Mountain Cats logged their first tie of the season and sit at 3-5-1 overall (1-4-1 PSAC) with just five games left in the regular season. The Griffins are 3-9-1 overall (2-3-1 PSAC).

Anson Portzline registered his fourth goal of the year when he received a pass from Ryan Kyei Boahen at midfield and beat Griffins goalkeeper Aidan Hollander to make it 1-0 at the 31:38 mark of the first half.

Netminder PJ Derksen made the start in goal and notched three saves in all 90 minutes of action.

Possession was fairly equal throughout the first half when the Mountain Cats outshot the Griffins 6-5. But the tide turned in the second half as Seton Hill racked up 11 shots, including the equalizer in the 79th minute off the foot of Joseph Spencer with an assist that was credited to Julian Marker.

Pitt-Johnstown hosts Slippery Rock (4-5-4) on Saturday at noon.
