Women’s Basketball to Host 2022 National Champions And No. 22-Ranked Glenville State on Monday

Head Coach Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team will welcome 2022 NCAA Division II National Champions Glenville State (WV) University for a non-conference game, Monday evening in the Sports Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, under 11th-year Coach Mike Drahos, had its three-game winning streak to open the season snapped with an 80-57, non-conference loss at Saginaw Valley State (MI) last Monday.  Peyton Alazaus led the way for the Mountain Cats with 18 points, while Hayden Taylor scored 14 points, and Cassidy Crawford added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.  Prior to that, Pitt-Johnstown began the year with a pair of wins at the Frostburg State (MD) Jim Crawley Conference crossover, before making its 2023-24 home debut with a 56-50 win over Malone on Nov. 15.
 
First-year Head Coach Emily Stoller's (6th-year) Glenville State Pioneers, the 2021-22 Division II National Champions and 2022-23 national semifinalists, are 4-1 and enter the game ranked 22nd in the most recent WBCA National Coaches' Poll.  Glenville State bounced back from a 100-89 home loss to No. 16 West Virginia State on Nov. 18 with a 96-73 win at Charleston (WV) on Tuesday.  Lauren Calhoun scored 16 points and Chalon Miles added 15 points to guide five Pioneers who scored in double figures against the Golden Eagles.
 
Pitt-Johnstown and Glenville State met last season in the Sports Center on Dec. 13, and then top-ranked Pioneers earned a 79-62 victory.  Ashley Norling had 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, and Alazaus added 13 points to lead the Mountain Cats.  Monique Pruitt's game-high 18 points and nine rebounds paced four Glenville State players who scored in double figures.
 
Pitt-Johnstown opens PSAC Crossover-play with games at Lock Haven and Mansfield on Friday and Saturday.  After a trip to Wheeling (WV) for a non-conference game on Dec. 15, the Mountain Cats will host PSAC Crossover game with the men's team against Bloomsburg on Dec. 18 and East Stroudsburg on Dec. 19.
