


The Pitt-Johnstown men's track and field team opened the indoor season with a strong performance at Friday's Youngstown State Icebreaker. Six Mountain Cats earned top-nine finishes in the Division I dominated meet, while three secured qualifying marks for the PSAC Indoor Championships.
Bridger Blankenbicker placed fifth in the unseeded Pole Vault division. His vault of 4.35 meters was second best on the Mountain Cats all-time list and qualified him for the PSAC Championships, while teammate
John Yahner finished 8
th (4.05 meters).
In addition,
Noah Ser come away with a third-place finish in the unseeded division of the High Jump at 1.75 meters, and
Ryan Porch set a school record and placed ninth in the Long Jump at 6.70 meters.
In the Mile Run,
Luke Cimakasky placed seventh at 4:25.96, and Seville Louissaint finished ninth in the Triple Jump with the program's third best jump at 13.44 meters.
The Mountain Cats also got school-record performances and PSAC qualifying times from
Michael Ifidon and
Domenion Jacobs. Ifidon had a time of 6.96 in the 60-Meter Dash, and Jacob's 8.41 in the 60-Meter Hurdles also broke a Pitt-Johnstown record.
Nathan Mienke's time of 16:25.77 in the 5,000-Meter Run was Pitt-Johnstown's second best ever time.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to the Susquehanna Early Season Invitational and Multi, before breaking for the holidays. The Mountain Cats will then continue their indoor season at the Youngstown State Invitational on Jan. 19.
