

After suffering a 17-8 loss in Saturday's 2023 season-opening doubleheader at Concord University in Athens' W.Va., the Pitt-Johnstown baseball team bounced back with a 19-0 win in the nightcap behind two-run homers from
Alex Glumac,
Dylan Broderick and
Garrett Prosper.

In game one, Concord erased a 3-1 second inning deficit with 10 runs in the bottom of the second and three more in third to secure the 17-8 victory.
Â
Broderick went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI, while
Erik Rhodes had two hits, including a double and an RBI, and
Jake Ansell had two hits and drove in one for the Mountain Cats.Â
Devon Boyles,
Josh Ulery, and Glumac also drove in one run apiece.

In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown opened-up a 4-0 second inning, lead then broke it open with 13 runs in the fourth in the 19-0 win.

Glumac was 4-for-5 with a two-run homer, five RBI, and three runs, and Broderick added two more hits, including the two-run home run and three RBI. Prosper belted a two-run homer and scored a pair of runs, and
Evan Beach singled, doubled and drove in four. The Mountain Cats also got a double and three RBI from
Mario Disso and two hits and and an RBI from
Josh Reynolds.

Sophomore right-hander
Rodney Shultz picked up the win after holding Concord scoreless on four hits over the first five innings. Shultz fanned four and didn't allow a walk.Â
Colton Cornell tossed the final two scoreless innings and surrendered one hit and struck out one.

The Mountain Cats will wrap-up the series with Concord with a nine-inning game on Sunday, before traveling to the 2023 MEC-PSAC in Glenville, W.Va. next weekend. Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to make its 2023 home debut with a four-game series against East Stroudsburg on March 17-18 at Point Stadium.
