Garrett Prosper, and
Devon Boyles all homered to highlight a 17-hit attack and lead the Pitt-Johnstown baseball team to a 16-7 win at Concord (WV) University in Sunday's finale of a three-game series to begin the 2023 season. The Mountain Cats took two of the three games and are 2-1 on the year.
Pitt-Johnstown scored nine runs over the final three innings to break open a tight game on its way to the lopsided victory.
Broderick went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, two RBI, and three runs, while
Erik Rhodes also went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and two runs for the Mountain Cats. Prosper had two hits, including a homer and two runs, and
Justin Turcovski had a hit and drove in three. Pitt-Johnstown also got two this and an RBI from
Alex Glumac and a base hit and an RBI from
Jake Ansell.
Freshman
Ben Tomb picked-up his first career win in relief of starter
Seth Shuey. Tomb tossed two innings, and allowed three runs on four hits. Shuey pitched the first four innings and limited Concord to just

one run on two hits.
With the loss, Concord slipped to 3-2.
The Mountain Cats will wrap-up the series with Concord with a nine-inning game on Sunday, before traveling to the 2023 MEC-PSAC in Glenville, W.Va. next weekend. Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to make its 2023 home debut with a four-game series against East Stroudsburg on March 17-18 at Point Stadium.
