
Jared Jakubick celebrated Senior Day by scoring 15 first half points and finishing with a team-high 18 to pair with a game-high five assists to lift Pitt-Johnstown to a 90-66 victory over visiting Edinboro on Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats improved to 19-7 (15-5 PSAC West).
Needing just five points heading into Saturday, senior Joe Batt became the 34th player in Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball history to eclipse 1,000 points when he knocked down a jump shot at the 18:18 mark of the second half. Batt, a Greenville, PA native, supplied 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Along with Jakubick and Batt, seniors John Paul Kromka, Caiden Landis, Drew Magestro and Jacob Shuagis were honored pregame.
Kromka, who recently garnered his fifth PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week Honor, provided a game-high five blocks and three steals to go along with 12 points and a team-high seven boards. Magestro connected on three 3-pointers and added 13 points and four rebounds.

Ryan Smith had 10 points and four boards, while Andrew Shull added nine points.
Magestro scored on a layup to put the Mountain Cats up 9-0 in the opening two minutes. But Edinboro battled back to take an 18-17 advantage with 11:17 to go in the first half.
Pitt-Johnstown responded with a game-altering 24-5 burst over the next six and a half minutes to go on top 41-23 with 4:45 remaining in the first half. Ryan Smith (8) and and Andrew Shull (7) led the way with 15 combined points during the run that gave the Mountain Cats a lead they would never let fade away.
The Mountain Cats shot 54.8% (17 of 31) from the field in the first half, which included a 5 of 10 performance from beyond the arc.
Pitt-Johnstown made sure there would be no second half comeback after opening the second half on a 14-6 run that was capped off with a three by Magestro that made it 63-43 with 11:05 left to play.


While the offense was clicking against the Scots, so was the Mountain Cats' defense. They turned 18 turnovers by the Scots into 26 points. Pitt-Johnstown also limited Edinboro to just a 39.7% (25 of 63) clip from the field.
Dominique Keyes notched a double-double with a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead Edinboro, which fell to 5-20 (3-17 PSAC West).Â
The Mountain Cats polish off their regular season home schedule when California (PA) visits on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Pitt-Johnstown, which has already secured a home game in the upcoming PSAC Tournament, finish up the regular season with a visit to Slippery Rock set for next Saturday at 3 p.m.
