
Brynnae Coe delivered a two-run, pinch hit double, but The College of Saint Rose (NY) got off to a fast start and was able to pick up an 8-3 win over the Mountain Cat softball team, Monday afternoon in Leesburg, Fla. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-3.
Saint Rose got off to a quick start and opened-up a 5-0 lead after three innings.
Pitt-Johnstown answered with two runs in the top of the fourth. After
Kayla Miehl reached on a fielder's choice and moved to third on a
Jenna Tallman double, Coe stepped in as a pinch hitter and drove in Miehl and Tallman with a double of her own.
Three more runs from Saint Rose increased it to 8-2 in the fifth, before the Mountain Cats got one of those runs back in the sixth inning.
Julia Mooney walked and moved to second on an error.
Shaylin Hagerman entered the game as a pinch runner for Mooney and advanced to third when
Alexis Hrivnak walked. Hagerman then scored on a wild pitch that made it 8-3.
Coe doubled and drove in two, and Tallman doubled and scored a run for Pitt-Johnstown. Hagerman and Miehl each scored one run.
Tori Radvan took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits. Hrivnak pitched three innings and gave up four runs (3 earned), and
Mia Smith tossed a scoreless inning for the Mountain Cats.
Saint Rose is now 2-5.
The Mountain Cats will continue their Spring Trip in Florida with games against Mercy (NY) and Southwest Minnesota State on Thursday and Bloomfield (NJ) and Saint Thomas Aquinas (NY) on Friday.
