Kate Yahner was the runner-up in the Pole Vault and
Natalie Lippincott placed third in the high jump to earn all-conference honors and lead the Pitt-Johnstown women's track and field team to a 13th-place finish at the 2023 PSAC Outdoor Championships in Slippery Rock. The Mountain Cats 21 points were a program-best.
Yahner's vault of 3.71 Meters earned her a second-place finish, just .10 Meters sy of Millersville champion Darian Hauf on Saturday, while Lippincott cleared 1.61 Meters, just shy of California's champion Beyonc'e Kelly's 1.69 Meter to place third to secure All-PSAC honors. She also cleared 1.46, 1.51, 1.56, 1.61 all on her first attempts.
In Thursday and Friday's Heptathlon,
Brooke Leithner finished 14th with 3,576 points, including a third-place finish in the Javelin (30.53m, 487 points) and a fourth-place finish in the Long Jump (5.02m, 565 points).
On Friday,
Mayah Charity,
Alex Walton,
Kara McKenzie, and
Abbey-Gale Brooks' first round of the 4x100-Meter Relay posted a season-best and sixth fastest time of 48.41, while Walton finished sixth in the second heat of the 400-Meter Run (1:02.13) before finishing 18th in the first round. In the 100-Meter Dash, Charity was fourth in the first heat and placed 11th at 12:52 in the first round, and Brooks was sixth in the first heat and 16th in the first round at 12.65. McKenzie's time of 1:04.58 in the first round of the 400-Meter Hurdles was the third best time in that round.Â
Also on Friday, Brooks posted a personal best time of 25.35 (10th best in First Round) in the in the fourth heat in the first round of the 200-Meter and Charity posted a school-record time of 25.50 (12th in First Round) in the fourth heat of the first round. In the 3K Steeplechase,
Paige Greathouse broke Pitt-Johnstown's previous record of 12:20.03 set in 2015 to place 10th at 12:01.38.
On Saturday, the Mountain Cats 4x100-Meter Relay Team of Charity, Walton, McKenzie, and Brooks came away with a fifth-place finish ahead of sixth-place California (PA) and seventh-place Bloomsburg at 48.61, while the 4x400-Meter Relay team of Charity, Walton, Brooks, and McKenzie placed ninth with a season-best 4:02.45.
McKenzie also came away with a fifth-place finish in the 400-Meter Hurdles at 1:04.37, Leithner placed 18rg in the Javelin (33.04 Meters), and
Jenna Smith finished 20th in the 1,500-Meter Run at 5:09.85.
