Assistant Baseball Coach George Roberts to Be Inducted into Kent State Hall of Fame

Pitt-Johnstown Assistant Baseball Coach George Roberts has been selected as one of nine members to be inducted into the Kent State (OH) University Varsity K Athletics Hall of Fame on September 15 in Kent, Ohio.

Roberts, who joined Head Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cat staff prior to the 2016 season, was named the Gary Regional Most Valuable Player and the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year on his way to leading Kent State to a spot in the 2012 NCAA Division I College Word Series.

Roberts, a Second Team NCAA All-American in 2012, batted .367 with 24 doubles one triple, eight home runs, and 66 RBi in the historic 2012 season.  As a senior in 2013, Roberts hit .358 with 14 doubles, a pair of triples, two home runs, and 40 RBI.

Following his senior season, Roberts was drafted in the 26th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks where he spent three seasons in the organizations' minor league system.
