In its inaugural year, the awards program was created to increase academic recognition for high-achieving student-athletes – which was a priority for the Conference's membership highlighted in
its most recent Strategic Plan.

To qualify, undergraduate and graduate student-athletes must have completed four semesters academically
at the nominating campus with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). For the purposes of PSAC Academic All-Conference,
completed semesters and GPAs are calculated at the beginning of each season using the previous completed semester (Fall 2025).
In addition, student-athletes must have met a minimum of participation requirements. For team sport selections, this includes playing in 70% of a team's contests (through the conference championship date.) For individual sports, there are unique participation requirements that are detailed. Recognition is based solely on meeting the outlined criteria.
In total, 382 student-athletes across all 17 PSAC institutions qualified for the Spring 2026 PSAC Academic All-Conference Teams.
