Coach Vito Addalli and the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team will kick-off the 2023 season Thursday afternoon. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
The Mountain Cats are coming off of a 4-10-4 overall record and a 4-9-3 mark in the PSAC Western Division a year ago.
Shepherd, under third-year
Head Coach Sam Odell, will also be playing its first match of the season. In 2022, the Rams posted a 7-7-4 overall record and 6-7-3 in the PSAC Eastern Division.
Last season, Pitt-Johnstown and Shepherd opened the season with a 1-1 draw in Shepherdstown, W.Va. on Aug. 25.
Haley Neidig's scored 20 minutes into match to give the Mountain Cats an early advantage, but
Sara Hohn's penalty kick goal 12 minutes later knotted it.
The Mountain Cats travel to a non-conference match at West Liberty (WV) on Sunday, before opening PSAC West-play at Slippery Rock on Wednesday. The Mountain Cats will then host a conference match against Gannon on Sept. 9.
