Aided by three different goal scorers, the Mountain Cats tasted victory for the first time this season with a 3-2 triumph over Goldey-Beacom (DE) on Monday evening at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
Junior midfielder Alexzander Toto drilled what would end up being the game-winner late in the 65th minute on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Jacob Tichnell, who was credited with two saves, and the defense shut down the Lightning over the last 35 minutes to help Pitt-Johnstown even its record at 1-1.
Josh Sollars kicked off the scoring for the Mountain Cats in the 16th minute thanks to an assist from Anson Portzline.
Goldey-Beacom's Sincere Kato responded later in the half with a goal to make it 1-1 at halftime.
But in the 58th minute, redshirt sophomore Jacob Palange buried a shot with the help of assists from Portzline and Ryan Kyei Boahen.
Forty-one seconds passed before the Lightning evened the score at 2-all off of a free kick by Eduardo Coimbra, but it would be short-lived as Toto's heroics came nearly seven minutes later.
The Mountain Cats will have a week off before visiting Penn State New Kensington next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
