Mountain Cats Suffer, 4-2, Loss at Lock Haven to Begin PSAC West Play

Lock Haven, PA

Toto, AlexzanderMoyer, JackAlexzander Toto and Jack Moyer scored first half goals to give Pitt-Johnstown the lead, but Lock Haven used three goals from Connor Swope to deal the Mountain Cats a 4-2 setback in the 2024 PSAC West opener, Wednesday evening in Lock Haven.  Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 3-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference.
 
Lock Haven jumped out to a quick lead on Swope's unassisted goal 13 minutes into the match, but the Mountain Cats answered right back with a pair of goals in a six-minute span to go in front.
 
Pitt-Johnstown knotted it at one when Toto beat Bald Eagles' goalkeeper Ethan Beck off of assists from Tristan Ralph and Jonathan Merli in the 24th minute, before PJ Derksen picked-up a goalkeeper assist on Moyer's goal six minutes later that put the Mountain Cats on top, 2-1.
 
Swope's second goal of the opening half in the 38th minute got Lock Haven even at the break.
 
However, Lock Haven struck for two more unanswered goals in the second half to seal the victory.
 
After Swope completed the hattrick with his third goal six minutes into the second half to give the lead back to the Bald Eagles, Ryan Miller set the final at 4-2 off of Danny Ogan's second assist of the night with 17 minutes remaining.
 
Derksen went the distance in goal form the Mountain Cats.  Derksen saw 14 shots, made three saves, and allowed four goals.
 
Beck earned the win in goal for Lock Haven after facing nine shots from Pitt-Johnstown, making two saves, and surrendering two goals.
 
The Bald Eagles improved to 4-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC West match against Seton Hill and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Windber Stadium, before traveling to a conference match at California (PA) on Wednesday.
