The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team is set to host a pair of PSAC Western Division Matches this weekend. On Friday, Edinboro visits the Sports Center for a 6 p.m. tip-off, before hosting Gannon on Saturday at noon.
Pitt-Johnstown, under
Coach Justin Haupt, improved to 13-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC after a pair of wins last week. After sweeping a non-conference match from Point Park in last Tuesday's home opener, the Mountain Cats tipped-off PSAC West play with a five-set win over Slippery Rock last Friday in the Sport Center.
Lualis Alvarado led the way with a match-high 29 kills.
Head Coach Milly Soboleski's (18th-year) Edinboro Fighting Scots are 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC West. Edinboro suffered a 3-1 loss at Clarion last Friday, before earning a 3-1 win over California (PA) on Saturday.
Makayla Neelands had 22 kills and
Erika Lundqvist added 13 kills.
Since 2007, the Mountain Cats hold an 8-7 advantage in the series, including sweeping a pair of conference matches from the Fighting Scots last season.
Gannon, under 18

Head Coach Matt Darling was 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West before Friday's match at Clarion. The Golden Knights opened conference play by sweeping Indiana (PA) last Friday and defeating Seton Hill, 3-2, on last Saturday.
Last year, Gannon swept three matches from the Mountain Cats. After taking the home-and-home series, the Golden Knights secured a 3-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament on Nov. 14.
The Mountain Cats start a stretch of five consecutive PSAC West road match at Seton Hill and California (PA) next weekend. The Mountain Cats will play their next home match on Oct. 29.
