No. 9 Wrestlers Open PSAC Schedule With 32-3 win at East Stroudsburg

Gray, TrevonCook, TysonThe ninth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers jumped out to a 10-0 lead with technical fall wins from Trevon Gray (125 lbs.) and Tyson Cook (133 lbs.) and never looked back in a 32-3 win in Thursday's PSAC-opener at East Stroudsburg.  The Mountain Cats gave Tyler Reinhart his first win as head coach to even their record at 1-1 and start the PSAC slate at 1-0.
 
The Mountain Cats got off to a fast start and used a 16-0 technical fall at 6:05 from Gray, ranked 10th at 125 lbs. over Jason Jasionowicz, before Cook erased a 12-4 deficit in a 27-12 technical fall at 5:26 over Elijah Bundro at 133 lbs. to give Pitt-Johnstown a 1-0 advantage.
 
At 141 lbs., 15th-ranked Mason Myers dealt Tommy Fierro a 12-3 major decision loss, and Chad Ozias held off Brian Lombardi, 4-3, at 149 lbs. to extend the lead to 17-0.
 
East Stroudsburg got on the scoreboard at 157 lbs. and cut the deficit to 17-3 when Parrish McFarland upset 15th-ranked Cooper Warshel, 15-10, but that was as close as the Warriors would get.
 
Vance, IsaiahGavyn Beck quickly got those three points back for Pitt-Johnstown with a 6-0 decision win over Anthony Lawrence at 165 lbs., and Macon Myers pushed it out to 23-3 and sealed the Mountain Cats' victory with his 11-6 win over Bobby Burke at 174 lbs.
 
At 184 lbs., Noah Gnibus got a late third period take down to upend Isaiah Reinert, 3-2, before sixth-ranked Dakoda Rodgers secured an 8-1 win over Matt Richardson in the bout at 197 lbs.
 
In a battle of ranked wrestlers at 285 lbs., Pitt-Johnstown's third-ranked and PSAC Wrestler of the Week Isaiah Vance got a second period escape to upend 11th-ranked Layton Schmick, 1-0, to set the final at 32-3.
 
With the loss, the Warriors are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to 17th-ranked Ashland (OH) on Nov. 24 and to the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis on Dec. 14-15.  The Mountain Cats will return to the Sports Center on Jan. 4 to host a Quad Match with Lake Erie (OH), UNC-Pembroke, and Grand Valley State (MI).
