Pitt-Johnstown hung around into the second half before succumbing to Lock Haven in a 73-54 setback in a PSAC crossover matchup on Friday afternoon at the Sports Center.
The Mountain Cats dropped to 1-5 (0-1 PSAC). The Bald Eagles improved to 4-1 (1-0 PSAC).
Sophomore Belle Bosch was the only Mountain Cat to breach double figures in scoring, racking up 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Lexi Margolis drilled two 3-pointers and finished with seven points, two rebounds and two assists.
Riley Childress had six points and six rebounds, while Camille Dominick added six points and four rebounds.
Childress' layup with about a minute to go in the first quarter put the Mountain Cats up 12-10. After four straight points from Lock Haven, Bosch hit a jumper with six seconds left that tied the game at 14-all heading into the second.
But the Mountain Cats lost the momentum when the Bald Eagles scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to forge ahead for good. Despite a Kate Myers' triple that cut the deficit to 27-23, the Mountain Cats never fully recovered. They trailed 31-23 heading into the locker room.
A 26-17 third quarter scoring deficit put Pitt-Johnstown in an inescapable 57-40 hole going into the final frame.Â
Pitt-Johnstown hosts Mansfield for another PSAC crossover game on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
