
Lydia Roman scored a pair of goals and
Haley Neidig had a goal and two assists to lead the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team to 4-0 victory over Clarion in the 2024 regular season finale at Richland High School. The win also ensured Pitt-Johnstown a berth in the PSAC Tournament for the first time since joining the conference in 2013. The Mountain Cats ended the regular season at 8-6-2 and all are 6-6-2 in the PSAC West to tie the school record for conference wins in a season.
Pitt-Johnstown, which locked up the fourth seed I the western division, will open the conference tournament on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
Neidig's finished an assist from
Rylee Fry just seven minutes into the match to put the Mountain Cats on top, before Pitt-Johnstown added two ore goals before the half.
In the 39
th minute, Neidig set up
Nicole Hawk that made it 2-0 and Roman's unassisted goal in the 43
rd minute increased it to 3-0.
Pitt-Johnstown continued to control the play in the second half and set the final at 4-0 when roman scored in the 60
th minutes off of assists from Neidig and Hawk.
The Mountain Cats, who outshot the Golden Eagles, 24-11, got three saves from
Emma Morin.
Alex Velez allowed all four goals and made 10 saves for Clarion, which fell to 2-14-1 overall and 1-12-1 in the PSAC West.
