Pitt-Johnstown was outscored 9-2 in the overtime period and suffered a 71-64 loss to West Chester in a PSAC crossover matchup on Tuesday afternoon at the Sports Center.
Despite contributions up-and-down the lineup, the Mountain Cats fell to 1-10 (0-5 PSAC).
Sophomore Belle Bosch paced the offense with a team-high 15 points. Fellow sophomore Hayden Keith went 4-for-8 from 3-point range and finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Lexi Margolis tallied 11 points, a team-high seven assists and four rebounds.
Pitt-Johnstown led by as many as six in a back-and-forth fourth quarter when Camille Dominick notched an and-one that made it 47-41 at the 8:57 mark. Dominick totaled nine points, six rebounds and three assists.
That lead eventually faded away down the stretch, but a clutch 3-pointer from Keith gave the Mountain Cats a 57-55 advantage with 1:09 remaining. With less than 30 seconds to play, junior transfer Liv West connected on another triple that broke a 57-all tie.
Junior Riley Childress hit two free throws with 13 seconds left to push it back to a 3-point margin, but West Chester extended the game with a 3-pointer in the waning seconds that tied it at 62-all.
The Rams scored the first eight points of the 5-minute overtime period and never looked back. Two free throws from Margolis with 1:14 remaining reduced the deficit to 70-64, but it was all the closer the Mountain Cats would get.
The Mountain Cats dug out of a 33-28 halftime deficit in the third quarter. An 8-0 run to begin the second half that was capped by a three from Margolis put them up 36-33. A layup from Bosch in the closing seconds of the quarter gave Pitt-Johnstown a 44-39 lead entering the fourth.
Michelle Kozicki supplied a game-high 35 points and 12 rebounds for West Chester, which improved to 4-7 (2-3 PSAC).
The Mountain Cats visit Shepherd for another PSAC crossover matchup on Saturday in a 1 p.m. tip-off.
