
After splitting the first two of a three-game non-conference series, Concord (WV) broke open a tight game with eight runs in the bottom of the seventh on its way to a 15-4 win over Pitt-Johnstown in Monday's finale in Athens W.Va.
Alex Glumac collected three hits for the Mountain Cats, now 1-2.
Pitt-Johnstown opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the third. Josh Reyolds led off with a double, moved to third on a Concord fielding error, and scored on a Glumac single up the middle.
Josh Ulery's followed two batters later with sacrifice fly that plated
Ethan Wells.
Concord knotted it at two with a pair of RBI singles off of Mountain Cat starter
Brandon Clifford in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Devon Boyles then allowed back-to-back bases load walks in the bottom of the fifth that put Concord on top, before the Mountain Lions added three more in the sixth, including Zach Saryeldin's two-run homer to left off of
Seth Shuey, that increased it to 7-2.
Pitt-Johnstown got two of those runs back in the top of the seventh when
Brody Roberts' ground ball was misplayed by Saryeldin, but Concord answered with eight runs in the bottom of the frame to extend it to 15-4.
Glumac went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Reynolds doubled four the Mountain Cats.
Boyles suffered the loss in relief after surrendering two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings. Clifford started and gave up two runs on three hits over the first 3.1 innings.
With the win, Concord improved to 3-1.
Pitt-Johnstown will play a three-games non-conference series at Shippensburg on Friday and Saturday, before playing a four-game non-conference series against West Liberty (WV) in Beckley, W.Va. on March 2 and 3.
