Shippensburg took advantage of a Pitt-Johnstown throwing error in the bottom of the 11
th inning to walk-off with an, 8-7, win Friday afternoon to begin a three-game non-conference in Shippensburg.
Alex Glumac had a pair of hits and
Devon Boyles drove in three for the Mountain Cats, now 1-3 on the year.
A pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for the Mountain Cats to start the top of the first. Boyles followed with a three-run triple to center, and
Evan Beach's ground out scored Boyles to put Pitt-Johnstown on top, 4-0.
Shippensburg came right back with three runs on three hits off of Mountain Cat starter
Rodney Shultz in its half of the first, and Mike Heckman's two run single to center in the bottom of the second gave the Red Raiders a 5-4 advantage.

After Glumac scored from second on a failed pick-off attempt in the top of the fourth, Beach delivered a two-out RBI single to give the lead back to Pitt-Johnstown.
Shippensburg quickly knotted it again with a run in the bottom of the frame and went up, 7-6, with an unearned run off of reliever
Garret Holzapfel in the seventh.
Josh Ulery chased home Glumac with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to tie it.
Neither team was able to break the tie and it went into extra innings. In the bottom of the 11
th, Shippensburg loaded the bases with one out off of
Zach Myers and Justin Byler scored from third on a Mountain Cat throwing error to give the Red Raiders the walk-off win.
Myers pitched well but took the tough loss to fall to 0-1. Myers, one for four Pitt-Johnstown pitchers on the day, tossed 3.1 innings, allowed just two hits and one earned run. Shultz started and pitched the first four innings and surrendered six runs on seven hits, while striking our five and walking one.
Glumac went 2-for-2 with four walks and three runs scored to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Boyles tripled and drove in three and
Justin Turcovski added a double. Beach also singled and drove in a pair.
Shippensburg improved to 2-3.
Pitt-Johnstown will finish the three-games non-conference series at Shippensburg with a doubleheader on Sunday, before playing a four-game non-conference series against West Liberty (WV) in Beckley, W.Va. next weekend. The Mountain Cats will make their 2024 home debut with a PSAC Western division doubleheader against Slippery Rock on March 23.
