Miama Cooper-Laylor shined for the Pitt-Johnstown women's track and field team by notching a pair of top five finishes when competing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh.
The freshman took home third in the 200-meter run with a time of 26.06 seconds. She complimented that with a fourth place mark in the 100-meter dash after finishing in 12.60 seconds.Â
Abbey-Gale Brooks also enjoyed a time of 26.06 seconds in the 200-meter dash, finishing in fourth place via the tiebreaker. A time of 12.72 seconds in the 100-meter dash was also good for a sixth-place mark out of 31 total competitors.
Mayah Charity was not far behind that time, earning 10th place after clocking in with a time of 12.91 seconds.
Freshman Ellie Zuro competed at the Tim Weaver International Meet. She enjoyed a fourth-place mark in the heptathlon and currently ranks fifth overall in the PSAC standings. Zuro also earned a place at the PSAC Championships after leaping 1.59 meters in the high-jump event.
Pitt-Johnstown will have more than a week to prepare before competing in the Messiah Multi event on April 11 and 12 held at Messiah College.
