
Slippery Rock jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead then added an insurance goal late in the second half to down the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, 3-0, in Wednesday's 2024 PSAC West opener at Richland High School. The Mountain Cats suffered their first lost after starting the year with a pair of shutout victories.
Maddi DeLucio's header off of a Sydney Patrick corner kick four minutes into the match put the Rock on top, before Morgan Sarver finished Ava Balazentis' assist in the 29
th minute to make it 2-0 at the break.
Pitt-Johnstown, which got four shots from
Rylee Fry, turned up the pressure in the second half and came away with eight shots to force Rock goalkeeper Leah Allman to make four of her five saves, but the Mountain Cats could not find the back of the net.
Slippery Rock maintained the two-goal advantage until the 87
th minute when Libby Zacharyasz tapped in another Patrick corner kick to close out the scoring.

Emma Morin saw 17 shots from the Rock, made four saves, and allowed three goals.
With the win, Slippery Rock is now 1-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown visits fifth-ranked Gannon for a PSAC West match on Saturday, before hosting a conference match against Indiana (PA) on Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. at Richland High School.
