Emma Morin faced 27 shots and made seven saves to keep the Mountain Cats in it, but fifth-ranked Gannon used a goal in each half to hold off the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, 2-0, in a PSAC West match Saturday afternoon in Erie. The Mountain Cats slipped to 2-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference-play.
Mountain Cat goalkeeper Morin saw 13 first half shots, but limited to high-powered Golden Knights to just one first half goal when Brooklyn Respecki scored in the 16
th minute.
Gannon maintained that one goal lead the remainder of the half, before making it, 2-0, 19 minutes into the second half when Jessie Watkins finished as assist from Ella Fadale.
Golden Knights' goalkeeper Morgan Sinan was able to make that lead hold up. Sinan was forced to make four saves to record the shutout.
The Golden Knights improved to 4-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC West match against Indiana (PA) on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Richland High School, before traveling to Greensburg for a conference match against Seton Hill on Saturday.
