

The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team bounced back from its first loss of the season in Saturday's third round of the IUP Crimson Hawk Classic by sweeping Elizabeth City State (NC) to finish of the tournament, Saturday afternoon in Indiana.
Lualis Alvarado had a match-high 10 kills and two aces, and
Dannika Susko added nine kills and three blocks for the Mountain Cats, who went 3-1 on the weekend, and improved to 11-1 overall.
Pitt-Johnstown took the opening set, 25-17, before closing out the Vikings with 25-21 and 25-22 wins.
Brooke Pelloni tallied six kills, and
Journey Welling and
Caroline Knight each had three kills and a pair of blocks for the Mountain Cats.
Adiamar Beaz led the way with a match-high 28 set assists, three service aces, and five digs, and
Gabriella DeRenzo chipped-in a match-high 12 digs, three aces, and two assists.
Elizabeth City State, now 1-9 on the year, was led by Jada Rouse's nine kills.
Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2024 home debut with a non-conference match against Point Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center, before opening PSAC West-play against Slippery Rock on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center.
