Shepherd (WV) scored a goal 20 minutes into the match, then added an insurance goal with under nine minutes to play to deal the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team a 2-0 non-conference setback in Saturday's 2024 season-opener at Windber High School.

Neither team was able to score until Ryan Fisher gave Shepherd an insurance goal in the 81
st minute that set the final at 2-0.

Derksen faced 15 shots from the Rams, made five saves, but allowed a pair of goals in the loss. Shepherd's Aidan Houck was forced to make one save on six Mountain Cat shots to earn the shutout in net.

The Rams are now 1-0-1 to start the year.

The Mountain Cats will travel to Penn State-New Kensington for a non-conference match on Tuesday, before visiting Goldey-Beacom (DE) for another non-conference match next Saturday.
