Rodgers, DakodaVance, IsaiahFirst the first time in history, the Mountain Cat wrestlers made the trip to Pittsburgh on Friday to take on Pitt in a dual meet.  Pitt-Johnstown, ranked 18th in Division II, battled the Division I 18th-ranked Panthers, but Pitt got off to a quick start and went on to a 32-8 victory in front of a large crowd in Fitzgerald Field House.  The Mountain Cats are now, 2-2 on the year.
 
Prior to the match the Pitt-Johnstown welcomed back alumni, administrators, family, and friends with a reception at Fitzgerald Field House.  The University of Pittsburgh held a moment of silence in memory of legendary Pitt-Johnstown Coach Pat Pecora, who lost his battle with cancer in September, and recognized his family with a memorial video following the bout at 149 lbs.
 
Pitt's 17th-ranked Nick Babin jumped out to a 7-0 first period advantage and dealt eighth-ranked Trevon Gray a 12-0 major decision to open the match at 125 lbs., before Mountain Cat freshman Tyson Cook suffered an 8-6 loss to Tyler Chappell at 133 lbs.
 
The Panthers then got a 17-3 major decision win from Briar Priest over Mason Myers at 149 lbs., and a 16-1 technical fall victory at 6:25 from No. 29 Anthony Santaniello at 149 lbs. over Chad Ozias to increase the lead to 17-0.
 
Following a technical fall at 165 lbs., Macon Myers gave Matteo De La Pena all he could handle in the bout at 174 lbs., before falling 6-2.
 
After Pitt pushed it out to 32-0, Pitt-Johnstown answered with two straight wins to close it out.  At 197 lbs., eighth-ranked Dakoda Rodgers jumped out to a double-digit third period lead then used four back points to record an 18-2 technical fall win at 6:48 over Daniel Gurovich to get the Mountain Cats on the scoreboard, and No. 5 Isaiah Vance used a take down with :14 remaining to secure a 9-6 win over Mustafa Woodi at 285 lbs. to set the final at 32-8.
 
The Mountain Cats return to the Sports Center on Saturday to host a Tri-Match with Lake Erie (OH) and No. 14 UNC-Pembroke starting at noon.
