The Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team notched two first half goals and then hung on late to secure a 2-1 victory over Seton Hill in a PSAC West matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mountain Cats picked up their first conference win of the season and improved to 1-3-3 overall behind two goals from freshman forward Maddie Barrick.
Barrick, who has now scored four of Pitt-Johnstown's seven goals on the year, broke up a scoreless in the 18th minute thanks to an assist from junior Sarah Henry. Less than seven minutes later in the 25th minute, Barrick extended the lead to 2-0, this time off assists from Henry and senior midfielder Lydia Roman.
Pitt-Johnstown recorded just three shots in the first half, but made the most of them while limiting Seton Hill to five shots. The Mountain Cats finished with 12 shots, including three on goal.
It remained 2-0 heading into halftime and late into the second half before Seton Hill's Heather Russell scored on a penalty kick that cut Pitt-Johnstown's lead to 2-1.
The Mountain Cats, however, made sure all was quiet over the final eight minutes as neither team recorded a shot. Senior Emma Morin went the distance in goal and notched seven saves.
Pitt-Johnstown will visit Slippery Rock on Saturday, Oct. 4 for a 1 p.m. matchup.
