Slippery Rock used a first half own goal, then added an insurance goal in the second half and held on for a 2-0 PSAC West victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Slippery Rock. The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-4-3 overall and 1-4-1 in league-play.
The Rock took a narrow 1-0 advantage into the halftime break with the help of an own goal 37 minutes into the match, before Lindsey Price finished Marissa Salisbury's assist in the 65
th minute set the final at 2-0.
Pitt-Johnstown's
Emma Morin faced 18 shots from the Rock, allowed both goals, and made four saves, while Slippery Rock Goalkeeper Leah Allman earned the shutout after making five saves on six Mountain Cat shots.
With the win, The Rock raised its overall record to 5-3-0, and improved to 5-1-0 in the PSAC West.
The Mountain Cats return home to host PSAC West matches against California (PA) on Wednesday and Edinboro on Oct. 15. Both matches are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
