Pitt-Johnstown couldn't quite even up the match late in a 2-1 setback to Clarion in PSAC West competition on Saturday afternoon.
The Mountain Cats dropped to 2-5-4 (2-5-2 PSAC).
All three goals came within a 15-minute stretch that spanned both halves. Clarion's Madison Rose broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute as Pitt-Johnstown fell into a 1-0 deficit at halftime.
Just 41 seconds into the second half, Clarion's Leah Deal scored to make it 2-0. In the 55th minute, however, Pitt-Johnstown responded when Sarah Henry helped Rylee Fry find the back of the net to trim the deficit to 2-1.
Both sides were quiet over the final 35-plus minutes, with neither team finding many quality scoring chances.
Lydia Roman recorded four total shots, with two on goal as the Mountain Cats finished with nine total shots, five on goal. Goalkeeper Emma Morin went the distance in goal and made seven saves. Clarion, which improved to 3-8-1 (3-5-1 PSAC), had 15 shots with nine coming on goal.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Gannon at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
