The Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team was tripped up by nationally ranked Gannon in a 7-0 setback on Saturday night at McConnell Family Stadium.
The Mountain Cats, who worked a 2-2 tie with the Golden Knights in a match earlier this season, dropped to 7-5-1 (2-4-1 PSAC) with three regular-season matches remaining. No. 24 Gannon improved to 8-2-4 (5-0-2 PSAC).
Gannon scored six times off 17 shots in the first 45 minutes that put Pitt-Johnstown into an insurmountable hole. It was 3-0 before Anson Portzline posted the Mountain Cats' lone shot of the half.
The Golden Knights went on to add tallies in the 18th, 31st and 40th minutes—all by different players—to cap the first half scoring.
Sebastian Roman Rivera played nearly 75 minutes in goal and made six saves before giving way to Jacob Tichnell, who handled the remaining 15 minutes. Noah Pawling supplied the other shot on goal.
The Mountain Cats will host Lock Haven at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
