Women’s Basketball to Debut in Sports Center, Saturday Against West Liberty

The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball teams will make its 2025-26 home debut with a non-conference game against West Liberty (WV), Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
Second-year Head Coach D'wan Shackleford-Vickroy and her Pitt-Johnstown squad, 0-3 to begin the year, opened with a 75-71 loss to the hosts and a 79-72 setback to West Virginia Wesleyan at last weekend's Frostburg State (MD) Jim Crawley Conference Challenge, the Mountain Cats then dropped a 62-54 decision at Wheeling (WV) on Wednesday.  Riley Childress scored 11 points, Liv West, an All-Tournament Team choice at the Frostburg Classic, added 10 points, and Camille Dominick added nine points and five rebounds against the Cardinals.
 
West Liberty, under ninth-year Head Coach Kyle Cooper, enters the game at 2-1.  The Hilltoppers tipped-off the year by splitting a pair of games at last weekend's West Liberty Conference Challenge, before earning an 87-81 win at Ursuline (OH) on Wednesday behind Bailee Smith's game-high 32 points and Anna Lucarelli's 17 points and nine rebounds.
 
Pitt-Johnstown and West Liberty have not met since Feb. 21, 2013 season when both teams were members of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC).  The Hilltoppers dealt the Mountain Cats a 98-90 overtime loss in West Liberty, W.Va.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Point Park for a non-conference game on Sunday, before returning home to host West Virginia State as part of a non-conference doubleheader with the men's team, Tuesday afternoon in the Sports Center.  The men will host Point Park at noon, before the women's game against the Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m.
