JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Pitt-Johnstown built a double-digit lead early on and never looked back on the way to securing a wire-to-wire 92-75 non-conference victory over Point Park on Tuesday afternoon in the Sports Center.
Junior Baden Forup notched his second straight double-double with a season-high 25 points and 11 rebounds to help the Mountain Cats move to 3-2 on the season. Forup also added two steals and two assists and went a perfect 7-for-7 at the free-throw line.
Coming off a career-high 24 points in his last start, Vinnie Cugini poured in 17 points and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds. Jay Rose added 15 points and five rebounds, while Cedric Rault provided 13 points and four assists.
Adam Bilinsky, who chipped in 12 points and five assists, hit a jumper to cap a 7-0 run to begin the game that helped set the tone. After having the lead cut to four, Forup scored six points during an 11-0 run that made it 18-3 less than six minutes into the first half.
Pitt-Johnstown led by as many as 17 on three different occasions over the final 14 minutes before heading into the locker room up 46-33.
Out of the break, the Mountain Cats bounded out to a 10-0 run that pushed their lead to 56-33. That helped Pitt-Johnstown withstand an extended run from Point Park that shrank its lead to just seven with nine-plus minutes remaining.
Leading 72-65, Cugini's tip-in ignited a 10-2 run that pushed the lead back up to 15 with less than five minutes left that sealed the game.
Aidan Anderson scored a team-high 22 points for Point Park, which fell to 0-2.
Pitt-Johnstown will visit Davis & Elkins for a 4 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, Nov. 29.
