The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team will host a non-conference game against Shippensburg, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
Pitt-Johnstown, under second-year
Head Coach D'wan Shackleford-Vickroy, enters the game at 2-5 after a, 72-66, setback at West Chester to begin PSAC Crossover-play last Saturday.
Sophia Ott had a career and game-high 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while
Liv West netted 11 points, and
M'laya Ainsworth added nine points, six rebounds, and four assists for Pitt-Johnstown. Prior to that, the Mountain Cats defeated West Virginia State, 83-79, on Nov. 25 behind West's career-high 35 points and
Riley Childress' 20 points.
Head Coach Kristy Trn's Shippensburg Red-Raiders, 1-5 on the season, look to bounce back from a, 71-37, home loss Bowie State last Friday.
Kiara Hardy had 11 points, while
Abbie Johns and
Michelle Olak each scored seven points for the Red Raiders against the Bulldogs. Shippensburg also dropped an 89-76 decision at Chestnut Hill on Dec. 1.
Pitt-Johnstown and Shippensburg met each of the last two seasons and split the games. On Jan. 3, 2024 in the Sports Center, the Mountain Cats earned a 71-61 victory behind
Peyton Alazaus' game-high 23 points and
Cassidy Crawford's 21 points and seven rebounds. The Red Raiders answered with a 74-59 win in Shippensburg last season on Dec. 6.
Abbie Miller tallied 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the Red Raiders.
Childress' 16 points and six boards and
Lydia Miller's 12 points paced Pitt-Johnstown.
The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC Crossover doubleheader with the men's team against Bloomsburg on Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to crossover games at Eat Stroudsburg on Dec. 20 and Kutztown on Dec. 21.
