Mountain Cats Cruise Past Bloomsburg for PSAC Crossover Victory

Forup, BadenJOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Pitt-Johnstown never trailed after opening up with 12 straight points on the way to capturing a commanding 99-71 victory over Bloomsburg in a PSAC crossover contest on Tuesday night in the Sports Center

Behind a game-high 21 points from Jay Rose, who also had four rebounds and three steals, the Mountain Cats moved to 7-3 (1-1 PSAC).

Coming off his second PSAC West Athlete of the Week honor this season, Baden Forup notched a double-double with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. He finished 9-for-11 from the field and added three assists, a steal and a block.

Will Kromka contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, while Vinnie Cugini added 16 points, two steals, two assists and two boards. Adam Bilinsky provided 10 points, a team-high four steals and three assists.

Cugini's layup at the 15:43 mark of the first half capped an opening 12-0 run that set the tone. The Mountain Cats methodically built on that lead over the next 10 minutes, going up by as many as 19 when Kromka scored on a layup in transition with 5:28 left before halftime.

Kromka went 2-for-2 at the free-throw line with 28 seconds left to send Pitt-Johnstown into the locker room up 50-36. The lead never dipped below 11 points throughout the second half.

Tanner Barkley's layup with 45 seconds left gave the Mountain Cats their largest lead at 99-69.

Pitt-Johnstown finished a season-best 59.4% (41 of 69) from the field, 26.7% (4 of 15) from beyond the 3-point arc and 13-for-18 at the free-throw line. The Mountain Cats doubled up the Huskies in points in the paint (64-32) and scored 20 points off 19 Bloomsburg turnovers.

Kodi Johnson scored a team-high 16 points off the bench for the Huskies, who dropped to 2-5 (0-2 PSAC).

Pitt-Johnstown will travel to East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. tip-off on Saturday in another PSAC crossover contest.
