JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Pitt-Johnstown could never quite close the cap in the final minutes of a 68-62 loss to Bloomsburg in a PSAC crossover matchup on Tuesday afternoon in the Sports Center.
Despite outscoring the Huskies 37-32 in the second half, the Mountain Cats dropped to 3-6 (0-2 PSAC).
Liv West contributed a team-high 17 points, along with five rebounds, four steals and two assists. Riley Childress, who had four rebounds and two steals, was the only other Mountain Cat in double-figures with 11 points.
Lexi Margolis hit two of Pitt-Johnstown's four threes and finished with eight points, while Aubree Price added eight points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Mountain Cats trailed 48-39 after three quarters and were down by as many as 14 in the fourth before staging a comeback in the final minutes to close within five on three occasions.
Childress scored on a layup to make it 63-58 with 61 seconds remaining. After giving up a jumper, M'laya Ainsworth scored inside to cut it to 65-60 with 17 seconds left, but it was all the closer they would get.
Pitt-Johnstown shot 41.4% (24 of 58) from the field, 25% (4 of 16) from beyond the 3-point arc and a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. The Mountain Cats led 40-30 in points in the paint and produced 24 bench points compared to the Huskies' nine.
Bloomsburg jumped out to a 25-10 lead after one quarter following a 10-for-15 display from the field over the first 10 minutes. The Mountain Cats responded by outscoring the Huskies 15-11 in the second frame. Camille Dominick connected on a jumper with 22 seconds left to trim Pitt-Johnstown's deficit to 36-25 heading into halftime.
Alison Hatajik recorded a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies, who improved to 5-2 (1-1 PSAC).
Pitt-Johnstown will travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday in another PSAC crossover contest.
