Forup, Pitt-Johnstown Overwhelm West Virginia Wesleyan in Non-Conference Win

Forup, BadenJOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Baden Forup secured a double-double with game-highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds as Pitt-Johnstown slammed West Virginia Wesleyan 113-84 on Monday night at the Sports Center.

The junior forward shot 11-for-14 from the field and now has four double-doubles, his latest one helping the Mountain Cats improve to 6-3 (0-1) after their last non-conference matchup of the season.

Vinnie Cugini provided 19 points, seven rebounds and a game-high five steals. Jay Rose added 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists in just 14 minutes off the bench. Adam Bilinsky chipped in 14 points, a game-high six assists and three steals, while Ryan Calo contributed 10 points and three rebounds.

The outcome was never really in doubt after Forup broke an 18-all tie with a layup at the 11:55 mark of the first half. Leading 40-33 with less than six minutes to go before halftime, the Mountain Cats went on an 11-0 run capped by a Will Kromka free throw to go up 18. They went into the break leading 55-39.

Pitt-Johnstown held at least an 18-point advantage for the duration of the second half, allowing every rostered player to see at least eight minutes of action. The Mountain Cats led by as many as 38 after Calo scored on a layup to make it 96-58 with 9:48 left.

Redshirt freshman Craig Jarvis netted his first career points, a 3-pointer with 43 seconds remaining that set the final.

Jerell Baptiste scored a team-high 20 points for West Virginia Wesleyan, which fell to 0-7 on the year.

Pitt-Johnstown will have a week off before welcoming Bloomsburg to the Sports Center at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 for another PSAC crossover matchup.
